A few bangs, deluge of blood, and then the yellow tape
Many injured, 32 dead, plus one, who gets the fame
Ever again, everyone is in this game – blame
Is it this, or is it that? Did we just lose our cape?
Everyone needs accept the blame – the truth isn’t candy
Charity begins at home – once again, where are parents?
Candy, wants, is the substitute for needs - love. What’s candy?
At 2, candy; 7, internet in room; 11, cell phone; yet, no parents
Blame - this needs be the least bone of contention
The flood of blood has come; hearts are shaken;
Maybe swept away. Let’s care for those hearts, taken
Do something. Silence, tears, a light candle in convention
Hearing this, my heart sunk, and then a tear, then a cascade
Hand to heart, to pray for the touched. Wordless, sad, emotional
Questions walked; emotions walked; to and fro my heart in a parade
Take my heart. Cry on my shoulder. Oh! VT. My words can’t be translational
I pray this does awaken us, bond us, and direct us to a better goal
Let hurts and tears harness. Let energies and races harness
Dodge stereotypes and victimization. Let us, shoot for one goal
Hand in hand, clean the mess; better the world, brains harness
Warhawks, say in one voice, “We love you Hokies!”
Please, accept our bouquet of hearts. “Please heal, Hokies!”
In unison with your voice and hearts, we say, “Go Hokies!!”

There is a lot more to the poem than the words alone. It's amazing how well you use the words of this poem as a curtain for meaning.
